| | Glutathione Peroxidase Activity Assay |
| Description: | Glutathione peroxidase was assayed in a l-ml system containing 0.1 M potassium phosphate buffer, pH 7.0, 0.2 mM NADPH, 1 i.u. glutathione reductase, 4 mM GSH,4 mM EDTA, 4 mM sodium azide. The reaction mixture was incubated at 37°C for 10 min after which 10 μl of 10 mM t-butyl hydroperoxide were added to start the reaction. No t-butyl hydroperoxide was added to the blank cuvette. The rate of reaction was measured at 37°C by following the decrease in the absorbance at 340 nm using a spectrophotometer. |
